Measurement error

Beschreibung

"Interviewers are key actors in face-to-face and telephone surveys. Their ability to identify and motivate people to participate is invaluable. Nevertheless, they can have less than positive effects on data quality. Research has shown that interviewers can influence data collection in a systematic way, and these systematic tendencies are known as 'interviewer effects'.<br> The magnitude of interviewer effects in skin colour measurements has only been sparsely studied, and never in a cross-cultural context. This represents an important gap in our knowledge, as interviewer effects might introduce biases when quantifying associations between skin colour and outcomes related to racial inequality, potentially discounting the relationship between the two."
