Vietnam: Geography and socioeconomic background of further analyses
Beschreibung
"This chapter is intended to provide a background for analysing the Vietnamese labour market and the industrial relations of the country. To this end, Vietnam's natural and geographical conditions are first briefly described in order to illustrate what advantageous or unfavourable basic conditions are associated with the country's geography. Second, Vietnam's economy and society are examined more closely in a short, more descriptive structural analysis. It is not simply a snapshot of conditions today but also describes the development since the beginning of the transformation ░ process. Up into the eighties, Vietnam was a country which followed the blueprint of the Soviet Union rather closely. In 1996, doi moi,' i.e. renovation, was started, and since then the transformation of the economy to a capitalist market system is running. The aim of the following pages is to provide a fundamental understanding of the country before striving for a deeper level of explanation that provides more detail and is grounded in theory in other chapters."
