Wage growth, job mobility and displacement effects in Germany

Beschreibung

"Relatively little is known about job mobility and wage growth of workers in the German labour market. In this paper, we summarise a number of findings which draw on research we have been doing on these issues, based on a new and unique German micro data set. In particular, we study the way wages of young men evolve over the first 10-15 years in the labour market, within and between jobs. We investigate how wage growth and labour market transitions are interrelated. We analyse the association between job displacement, and the evolution of pre- and post displacement wages. We compare this to findings for the French labour market, based on a similar data source. Our analyses produce a number of interesting and unexpected results." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku) ((en))
