In this project we empirically analyze the cyclicality of new hire and incumbent pay using the BeH dataset, the Employee History File of the Institute for Employment Research (IAB), over the 1977 – 2009 period.
Ziel
We focus on two research questions. First, we analyze whether real entry wages are rigid over the business cycle. Second, we revisit the cyclicality of new hire versus incumbent pay.
