Professional background

Annekatrin Niebuhr studied economics at the University of Kiel and the University of Wales in Swansea (degree in 1992). From 1993 to 1999 she acted as a researcher at the universities of Kiel and of Dortmund, completing her doctorate at the University of Kiel in 1998. From 1999 to 2004 she was project leader in the department of European Integration at the Hamburg Institute of International Economics (HWWA). Annekatrin Niebuhr has been a member of the research staff of IAB Northern Germany since December 2004. She is professor of Empirical Labour Economics and Spatial Econometrics (https://www.niebuhr.wiso.uni-kiel.de/willkommen-en-1?set_language=en) at the University of Kiel since November 2009.
