Library and subject information

Library

The specialised library for labour market research and labour administration (Fachbibliothek für Arbeitsmarktforschung und Arbeitsverwaltung) of the Federal Employment Agency (Bundesagentur für Arbeit) is located at the Institute for Employment Research (IAB). As a central service facility, it primarily provides employees of the Institute and the Federal Employment Agency as well as external visitors with specialist literature from the field of labour market and employment research as well as on management, administrative tasks and legal issues.

What we offer

The comprehensive library catalogue can be used for literature searches on the intranet of the Federal Employment Agency or by external parties on site.

It includes the references of the IAB literature database. This includes German-language and English-language labour market-relevant publications (monographs, articles, compilations, working papers) and offers direct links to the full texts where available.

The library licenses and subscribes to all relevant journals from Germany and abroad.

Most journal titles are listed in the Electronic Journals Library (Elektronische Zeitschriftenbibliothek, EZB).

The Database Information System (Datenbank-Informationssystem, DBIS) provides an overview of the licensed subject databases as well as those freely accessible on the internet.

We will support you with your literature research.

Please direct enquiries with as precise a description of the topic as possible and the purpose of the research (e.g., bachelor's/master's thesis, expert opinion, lecture) to: IAB.Bibliothek@iab.de

The library is a reference library. Media lending to external users is not possible. Electronic journals and e-books are available to the extent permitted by law.

LitDokAB literature database for labour market and employment research

The source of the InfoAB IAB information platform is the LitDokAB literature database.

LitDokAB is the reference database for literature from the field of German and international labour market and employment research. It contains over 200,000 references (monographs, essays, compilations, working papers) since 1967.

LitDokAB grows by around 3,000 title data per year. New publication lists from publishing houses as well as around 200 academic journals and 100 working paper series are continuously edited, and relevant publications are added to the database.

The title datasets are enriched with abstracts and keywords from controlled vocabulary, the IAB thesaurus labour market, occupation and vocational training.

LitDokAB is currently only offered via the network of the Federal Employment Agency. It can be viewed by visiting the IAB library.

Please send research requests to IAB.Bibliothek@iab.de.
