How to Apply

General tips regarding our vacancies and the staffing process at IAB

As a general rule, all vacancies at IAB will be advertised.

Any ads for full-time positions may also be answered by part-time employees or people looking for part-time jobs. Part-time work is possible unless barred by compelling work-related matters. The corresponding decision will be made during the staffing process. Please also make yourself familiar with the offer of IAB as a family-friendly employer.

If you have any questions, please reach out to the people specified in the respective job advertisement as a point of contact.

Applications must be submitted via the career portal of the Federal Employment Agency (BA) within the specified application period.

There are no formal requirements as to the letter of application and CV. The letter of application is your chance to highlight your special interest in the advertised position and point out your relevant qualifications and competencies regarding the task. Apart from your personal information, your CV should also detail your career history (tasks, topics, projects). There is no requirement to disclose your date of birth, gender, or nationality in your application. A photograph is not strictly necessary, either.

The equal opportunities-oriented personnel policy at IAB takes into consideration the diversity of our employees’ competencies which they have acquired, among others, thanks to their age, gender, or ethnicity. In that context, we are also forcing the recruitment of people with severe disabilities and equivalent. The Spokesperson for People with Severe Disabilities is involved in the posting of job ads and the subsequent selection process. To the extent that applicants with severe disabilities expressly refuse such involvement for their support, please make a statement to that effect in your application. The Equal Opportunities Officer is involved in the staff selection process. Women are currently underrepresented among research staff and managers. Therefore, IAB expressly solicits applications from qualified female researchers for suitable positions.

After that, you can simply use your applicant’s profile to apply to any jobs at IAB or the BA. Applicants who are already employed by IAB or the BA are kindly asked to apply via their respective internal employee portals.
