Professional background

Anja Warning (née Kettner) completed her studies at the Humboldt University and the Technical University of Berlin in 1998, where she obtained her degree in Economics. Following that, she worked as lecturer and researcher at the University of Hamburg (Microeconomics), at the Technical University of Berlin (Macroeconomics) and at Indiana University Bloomington (School of Public and Environmental Affairs). Anja Warning has been with the IAB as a researcher since 2004. She was head of the IAB Job Vacancy Survey from 2008 to 2011 and from 2013 to 2016. In 2012, Anja Warning gained her PhD (Dr. rer. oec) on the topic of " Skilled labour shortages and skills bottlenecks in Germany”.

Since June 2016, Anja Warning has been working in the Research Department of Forecasts and Macroeconomic Analyses, where she is investigating the effects of digitalisation on labour demand. She also monitors current developments in the academic labour market and examines specific sectors and professions with regard to existing labour shortages and recruitment problems.
