Abstract

The project deals with two main questions. First, can job vacancies serve as a forward indicator for employment? To answer this we analyze the effect that job vacancies have on new hirings. This is the focus of research. It brings about questions concerning the structural properties of job vacancies, concerning vacancy rates as well as long-term and short-term trends. Second, how can the informative value of the IAB survey-data be expanded by information on reported job vacancies featured in the data sets of the German Federal Employment Agency?
