Open positions are often filled by using personal contacts

Abstract

"This brief report gives results on employers' recruitment strategies and on the duration of recruiting processes in the year 2015. We found that the use of personal contacts and recommendations of employees is most helpful for firms to find new employees for open positions, followed by advertisements in newspapers and the use of public employment services. The internet is frequently used to search high qualified new employees and one of the most successful ways of recruiting for academic positions. Furthermore, the higher the qualification of an open position is, the longer is the search duration." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku) ((en))
