Professional background

Dr Nancy Reims studied Sociology and Anglistics (Magister Artium) at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) from 2005-2010. As part of the joint graduate school of the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) and the Department of Economics at FAU, she completed her dissertation entitled ‘Vocational rehabilitation of people with disabilities,  impact on health and labour market integration’ at the University of Cologne at the end of 2015.

Since 2010, she has been a researcher at the IAB working in the research department ‘Joblessness and Social Inclusion’ with a focus on vocational rehabilitation of people with disabilities.

Her research focuses on young people with disabilities in the transition from school to work and on work-experienced people with disabilities who are seeking to reintegrate into the labour market in a new or old job. She pursues a mixed-methods approach in her work taking into account different stakeholder perspectives.
