Vocational rehabilitation service providers: current challenges, cooperation with companies and differences in assessing "success"
Project duration: 01.01.2020 to 31.12.2021
Abstract
The aim of vocational rehabilitation for people with disabilities is to (re)integrate rehabilitants into the primary labour market. Service providers are contracted by different organisations financing vocational rehabilitation, e.g. the Federal Employment Agency. Furthermore, service providers cooperate with various companies. Within the framework of vocational rehabilitation service providers face different challenges. Those challenges are of particular interest for this project. Furthermore, we also investigate the quality of the cooperation between service providers and local employment agencies and jobcenters, as well as companies. In addition to the perspective of the service providers and financers of rehabilitation, the analysis also focuses on how successful vocational rehabilitation is defined by rehabilitants, financers and service providers. The data is based on a qualitative and quantitative study on service providers conducted by the IAB in 2018/2019 and a qualitative study on vocational rehabilitants conducted in 2016/2017. Both studies were commissioned by the BMAS.
