Professional background

Udo Brixy studied geography in both Bonn and Aberdeen, completing his studies with a degree in geography from the University of Bonn in 1991 (Diplom-Geograph).  He did his doctoral degree in 1999, also at the University of Bonn. In 2014 he habilitated at the Ludwig-Maximilians University Munich (LMU) and he is an outside lecturer there. Udo Brixy has been a researcher at IAB since 1991. From 1998 to 2002 he was also attached to the Chair of Economic Geography of the University of Bonn. He was giving lectures and seminars in the subjects geography and economics at the universities of Munich, Trento, Hannover, Kaiserslautern, Nuremberg-Erlangen and Bamberg.
