Professional background

Martin Popp studied Economics at Friedrich-Schiller University Jena, the University of Aberdeen, and Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU). In addition, Martin earned his doctorate as a scholarship holder in the Joint Graduate Programme from IAB and FAU (GradAB). During his doctoral studies, Martin undertook a multi-week research stay at the Institute for Evaluation of Labour Market and Education Policy (IFAU) in Uppsala.

Since 2017, he has been working as a researcher for the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) in Nuremberg, Germany.  He is affiliated with the Institute of Labor Economics (IZA) and the Labor and Socio-Economic Research Center (LASER). 

His research interests cover the fields of labour demand and industrial relations, with a particular focus on studying imperfect competition in the labour market, minimum wages, and the shortage of labour.
