Abstract

"Following the decision of the Minimum Wage Commission on June 27, 2025, the statutory minimum wage in Germany is set to rise to €13.90 per hour on January 1, 2026 and to €14.60 per hour on January 1, 2027. In this statement, the authors evaluate the decision on the basis of scientific evidence from the Institute for Employment Research, focusing in particular on the effects of the statutory minimum wage on wages and employment."
