Changes in the German labor market - influences and developments. IAB Statement on the hearing at the German Council of Economic Experts on 9 July 2025

Abstract

"In preparation for the 2025/2026 Annual Report of the German Council of Economic Experts, the IAB was asked to provide its expertise in assessing the following topics: - Development of the German labor market - Effects of trade policy, the special infrastructure fund, and increased defense spending on the labor market - Employment trends in the manufacturing sector - Effects of informal care on the labor market.
