Professional background

Ulrich Wenzel was a student of sociology, political sciences and philosophy at the University of Freiburg im Breisgau. In 1991 he completed his studies with an MA, obtaining his doctorate in 1997 (Dr. phil.). As of 1994 Dr Wenzel was a research associate, then, from 2000 onwards, an assistant professor at the Institute of Sociology at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. Between times he had acted as a Research Fellow at the Center for Interdisciplinary Research of the University of Bielefeld in 1997/98 (project: "Theories of Social Change") and as a researcher at the Institute of Sociology at the University of Koblenz-Landau in 2002. He has been working at IAB since October 2005, first as a senior researcher then, since April 2009, as Head of Research Management.
