Professional background

Stefan Theuer is a sociologist and works for the Regional Research Network Saxony-Anhalt-Thuringia. 
Since 2003, he has held various posts at the IAB, including in the units: Research Coordination, Establishments and Employment, the Unemployment, Joblessness and Social Inclusion, and the Panel Labour Market and Social Security. Between 2005 and 2007, he worked at the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees, and from 2013 to 2015 at the South-East Statistics Service of the Federal Employment Agency. 
His main areas of research in the field of labour market studies include job placement, atypical forms of employment and long-term unemployment. He also has a particular research interest in the transformation of the labour market caused by digitalisation, demographic change and decarbonisation.
