Abstract

The aim of this project is to describe the long-run patterns underlying switches from one establishment to another. Leading questions include whether taking up a job at a different establishment has become more common and whether the share of switches taking place over larger distances or between different occupations has increased. Moreover, it is to be assessed how these patterns have developed for specific groups (e.g. females, older age groups or the highly qualified) and  to what extent there are regional differences (e.g. between urban and rural areas).
