Professional background

Stefan Theuer is a sociologist and works in the Research Coordination Unit. He has been at the IAB since 2003, where he worked in the departements of Establishments and Employment, Joblessness and Social Inclusion, Panel Labour Market and Social Security, and the Regional Research Network. From 2005 to 2007 he worked at the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees and from 2013 to 2015 at the Statistics Service of the BA. His research focus in the field of labour market research is on job placement, atypical employment models (i.e. temporary work, marginal employment) and long-term unemployment. Of particular interest to him are the effects of digitalisation and the energy transition on the labour market.
