Functions at the IAB
Professional background
Dr Oliver Schlenker is a Senior Researcher in the research group “Occupations in Transformation” at the IAB.
He studied economics at the Universities of Rome “Tor Vergata” and Konstanz, where he subsequently worked as a Doctoral Research Fellow at the Cluster of Excellence “The Politics of Inequality” and completed his PhD at the Graduate School of the Social and Behavioral Sciences in 2025. In parallel, he worked from 2021 to 2025 as a Researcher at ZEW Mannheim in the research unit “Labor Markets and Social Insurance.” Since 2025, he also serves as Deputy Director of the Ludwig Erhard ifo Center for the Social Market Economy and Institutional Economics and is a member of the junior faculty at LMU Munich.
His research interests lie in labor and health economics, with a particular focus on the economic and health consequences of technological change and labor shortages as well as their interplay with labor market institutions.
