Abstract

The aim of the project is to contribute to empirical research about higher education, employment and unemployment of women who studied male dominated subjects. This includes subjects where the women's share of students is below 25 % (civic engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, computer sciences and physics - all without teachers). The research project concentrates on the old federal states of Germany since the 80ies; but also the new federal states are examined. The empirical basis of the project are official statistics (higher education statistics, microcensus, unemployment statistics).
