Abstract

The project analyzes the effects of wage changes on labor demand in German establishments, distinguishing between substitution and scale effects. We use the elasticities for different skill and task groups to determine the importance of labor supply shocks for the employment trend in manufacturing between 1993 and 2016. Our estimations are based on IAB administrative employment data (BeH) and the IAB Establishment Panel.
