Data and IT-Management: Quality, Processes Innovations (QPI)

Tasks

The researchers at the IAB need meaningful information, fast delivery and high-quality in data and IT for their work. This is why high quality standards, professional and efficient management, transparency and traceability for data products, delivery processes and IT solutions are of the utmost importance for the Data and IT Management (DIM) division.

The Quality, Processes, Innovations (QPI) team combines its expertise to create innovative solutions and provide quality-assured frameworks.

Innovative and complex projects
One of the team's main tasks is to deal with new types of issues and complex projects with a time limit. Through in-depth analysis and the development of needs-oriented technical concepts, the existing infrastructure and architecture are optimized to meet the new requirements in the area of responsibility. In doing so, the team works closely with people from other teams outside of their operational line tasks. In addition, QPI acts as a point of contact for conceptual and overarching issues, such as data ethics.

Efficient quality standards
In order to achieve the agreed objectives, the QPI team works with the relevant teams in DIM to generate the necessary work processes, guidelines, rules and other quality-related documentation. In quality planning, tests and reviews for specific process steps are defined together on the basis of existing processes. Only when all stages of quality assurance have been successfully completed are the developed products or data handed over to the customer by the specialist teams.

Continuous development
Complaints received, suggestions for improvement and internal test results are regularly analyzed and evaluated by QPI in order to sustainably improve and secure DIM products, development and delivery processes as well as internal processes with the help of suitable measures. The Q-Circle, initiated by QPI, evaluates the progress of existing measures and develops new ones if necessary. In doing so, the jointly defined goals are also reviewed and their implementation discussed.

Bundled organization
In addition, QPI supports the main tasks of the business unit by regularly updating the planning in terms of deadlines, resource requirements and expenses. The team also takes on administrative tasks, such as the onboarding of new employees in the data and IT management area.
