Tasks

The Research Data Centre (FDZ) of the German Federal Employment Agency (BA) at the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) provides access to micro data for non-commercial empirical labour market research to external researchers.

We provide data on individuals, households and establishments, as well as data that combine both establishment and personal information. The data originate from three different sources: the notification process of the social security system, internal procedures of the Federal Employment Agency and own surveys.

We offer four ways of data access: scientific use files, remote data access, on-site use and campus files for the purpose of academic teaching. We offer on-site use of the data at the FDZ in Nuremberg and via secure internet connection at further locations in Germany and abroad.

Our team advises on data suitability and the technical environment available at the FDZ and documents the data and further methodological aspects in own publication series.

We carry out our own empirical research and we are involved in international research cooperations. Our research focuses on the linkage of process and survey data, enhancing international data access as well as diverse questions in labour market research.

Anyone who is interested can find information on what is new at the FDZ in its newsletter.
