Human Resources, Qualifications and Infrastructure (PQI)

Service Department

Tasks

The IAB requires qualified and motivated staff who are not only willing, but also in a position to keep pace with the leaders of scientific competition worldwide. This necessitates solid framework conditions as regards both administrative infrastructure and finances.

Attracting outstanding executive staff and ensuring they remain at IAB is significantly furthered by way of non-tariff, achievement-orientated remuneration. IAB does not only attract qualified personnel in the usual way through job announcements; recruitment also takes place through considering interns, student assistants and scholarship holders from the IAB Graduate School.

It is the aim of our personnel development concept to provide the staff with the option of constant advancement in accordance with state-of-the-art standards in scientific management. An example of the numerous qualification modules that are possible is the participation in international opportunities of further education, such as summer schools and research sabbaticals. Cooperation agreements aimed at establishing endowed professorships for executive staff at IAB who are engaged in their habilitation are intended to foster the link between research and teaching.

In addition, the Human Resources, Qualifications and Infrastructure Service Department is in charge of the Graduate Programme at IAB which is specifically aimed at promoting young researchers.

The organizational support of events and the management of the infrastructure are also part of PQI's tasks.
