Future employment requirements in outpatient and inpatient care in Saxony

Abstract
Demographic change means that more older and fewer young people will be living in Saxony in the future. This will have a fundamental impact on the labor market in the care sector, as the increasing number of older people will increase the number of people in need of care, which in turn will require more employees. Against this background, the possible development of the demand for employees in the outpatient and inpatient care sector up to 2035 is presented for Saxony as a whole and for the individual districts. The model calculations differentiate between the retirement-related replacement requirement and the demand-related expansion requirement and also include scenarios for the retirement age and digitization potential.
