Employment stability in the care sector

Abstract

Employment in the care sector is characterised by high turnover. The project examines the different ways in which people enter the care professions and assesses the effectiveness of these recruitment strategies in terms of long-term employment relationships. We analyse how individuals and firms differ in terms of the different recruitment routes (initial training, retraining and immigration of nursing stuff) and what impact this has on their long-term commitment to the caring profession.
