Occupational changes during the COVID-19 pandemic
Project duration: 01.07.2022 to 31.12.2024
Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic has severe effects on the labor market. It is possible that it also affects occupational changes. Especially workers in occupations that were restricted by the pandemic or measures against it (e.g. lockdowns), might be more likely to change the occupation. We examine the intensity and quality of occupational changes during the COVID-19 pandemic. We identify those changes and analyze whether there are occupations that were left frequently. Furthermore, we compare incomes before and after occupational changes and additionally investigate changes in the type of employment. Finally, we aim to identify differences between occupations with respect to the occupational changes. We use IEB data and compare occupational changes in 2020 with those in 2019.
