Abstract

In 2019, about 7.9 million individuals in Germany were considered severely disabled. This project analyses the individual effects of becoming disabled on labour market outcomes in Germany. Using administrative data, we apply a combination of matching with an event-study design and estimate how the event of becoming disabled affects individual labour market outcomes such as wages and tenure.
