Abstract

Against the backdrop of the forthcoming phase-out of coal-fired power generation, the Central German brown coal mining district in Germany is facing major structural changes. We are looking at impacts on regional employment in the context of the interconnectedness of the lignite industry with other, particularly energy-intensive industries and the expected demographic development in the region.
