Abstract

The level of employment among over-60s has risen significantly in Germany in recent years. This is a desirable development in light of the demographically induced shortage of skilled workers, which increasingly requires a more flexible transition to retirement. At the same time, the average retirement age is still well below the statutory retirement age. In this project, we investigate which groups of employees retire earlier and which continue to work beyond retirement age and on which individual and structural factors this depends.
