Professional background
Tim Kovalenko studied economics at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg and the University of Konstanz between 2011 and 2017. He graduated in June 2023 with a PhD on the topic "Essays on the origin and propagation of shocks in the labor market".
He worked as a research assistant at the Chair of Labor and Regional Economics at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. From 2023 to 2024, he also worked at the Deutsche Bundesbank.
Since April 2024, he has been a member of the IAB research department "Labor Market Processes and Institutions".
His research focuses on the empirical analysis of labor market responses to shocks, the role of the establishment size distribution in the labor market and labor market imperfections.
