Fallgrube oder Fallschirm? Pflichtmitgliedschaft in der Gesetzlichen Rentenversicherung für Ich-AGs

Abstract

"Between 2003 and the middle of 2006, approximately 400,000 start-ups were created by unemployed persons in Germany. These start-ups were subsidised under a special progamme entitled 'Me Inc.' (formerly § 421 I, Social Code III). Whilst receiving the subsidy, recipients were obliged to join the German social pension fund. With the aid of a reference scenario, this paper compares the benefits from the social pension fund with the outcomes of an equivalent contribution to a private pension scheme. This comparison reveals that, under certain circumstances, the social pension fund is able to match market-driven solutions. In addition, it provides a high degree of security, a minimum of bureaucratic requirements, and flexibility in terms of the contributions that are paid."
