Minimum Wage Hikes as of January 1, 2026 and 2027: Around One in Ten Jobs Is Affected by the Step-Wise Adjustment of the Minimum Wage

Abstract

"According to the decision of the Minimum Wage Commission, the statutory minimum wage in Germany is set to rise to 13,90 Euro per hour on January 1, 2026. In an additional step, the minimum wage will be further increased to 14,60 Euro on January 1, 2027. This report examines the extent to which existing jobs and new hires will be affected by the planned increases.
