Demographic change and labour shortages: foreign employees play an important role in the labour market

Abstract

"The demographically induced decline in labour force potential will vary from region to region and according to skill level. Particularly in rural areas and in eastern Germany, young employees will not be able to compensate for the retirements of the babyboomer generation.
