The Role of Social Networks of the Long-Term Unemployed: Organizational Membership and Social Support in Everyday Life Increase Job Chances
Abstract
"We investigate the effect of several characteristics of long-term unemployed’s social networks on subsequent job take-up. Our main findings are that active memberships in different types of organizations (e.g. clubs, churches, unions) and the social support in everyday life increase the unemployed’s job chances."
