30 years of the IAB Establishment Panel

The IAB Establishment Panel is a reliable source for all those wishing to be informed about the development of productivity, employment and personnel structures, education and further training activities, and other determinants in German establishments. For more than 30 years employment data of around 15,500 establishments across all economic sectors and size classes have been collected at the IAB. The findings are of enormous benefit to labour market research institutions, job placement agencies, policy-makers and business communities.

The annual representative employer survey on corporate employment determinants has been conducted in West Germany since 1993 and also in East Germany since 1996. It is the central source of information for analyses related to labour demand on the German labour market.

The data provided by establishments are intended to help the placement and advisory services of the Federal Employment Agency orientate their activities more closely to the realities experienced within the establishments themselves. The analyses also provide the basis for the decision-making processes of politicians, bargaining parties and associations. This page provides publications and projects based on the findings of the IAB Establishment Panel.
