Further training in small and middle-sized establishments - how do the participation chances of employees improve?

Abstract

"In view of dynamically developing labour markets and progressive technologisation, further training has gained in importance over the last few years. This can also be seen from the increased engagement in further training on the part of establishments. In this respect, however, one can differentiate between the further training activities of establishments of differing sizes. This paper deals with the question of to what degree small and middle-sized establishments have contributed to the rise in further training in macroeconomic terms and what the chances of further training are like for employees in these establishments. The reason why this is so important is because participation in further training represents an important means to further professional development as well as to securing and/or increasing one's individual opportunities of employment and income."
