Abstract

"In this article, the long-term economic and labour-market effects of the influx of refugees are discussed. Two scenarios are simulated and aligned with the basic projection of the fourth wave of the QuBe project for this purpose. Firstly, a counterfactual scenario is used to calculate the incentives of those seeking protection in Germany, in order to quantify the effects on education, age distribution, labour supply and demand according to sectors, occupations and qualifications. Secondly, a fast and targeted labour market integration of the refugees is modelled. The results indicate that a fast labour market integration is beneficial for both the individual and the economy as a whole." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku) ((en))
