Übernahme nach erfolgreichem Ausbildungsabschluss?

Abstract

"Apprenticeship training for young adults is considered to be an important pillar for firms to meet their demand for skilled workers and is often considered to be an investment. However, in this case apprenticeship training can only regarded to be successful for firms if apprenticeship graduates stay in the training firm and are taken-over in regular employment. In recent years, within-firm retention rate of apprenticeship graduates has steadily increased. Based on the data from the IAB Establishment Panel 2008 - 2013 we examine the relationship between firms' characteristics and the retention rate of apprenticeship graduates by using a zero-inflated-negative-binomial regression model. The results show higher retention rates of apprenticeship graduates in firms facing difficulties in the recruitment of qualified skilled workers, whereby this correlation is stronger in small firms than in large companies. In contrast, difficulties in the recruitment of new apprentices are not correlated with the further employment of apprenticeship graduates. Furthermore we observe that characteristics of firms, that influence the attractiveness of a firm positively, are accompanied by the successful hiring of apprenticeship graduates."
