Lost opportunities : the potential of migrants, both male and female
Abstract
"Within the framework of the discussion on ensuring the availability of qualified personnel, the discussion about possible ways to solve the problem and about strategies has flared up. One group of the population with a great deal of potential - migrants, both men and women - is paid too little attention to in political circles despite increased requirements for qualified labour. On average, male and female migrants are inadequately integrated into the educational system and the labour market. The lack of, or this inadequate, labour market integration means that their resources remain untapped. Through this, the country has to do without much productive potential - and this must be changed. Because only the use of all integration potential will also make the use of all performance potential possible, the question of improving participation in education and the labour market also becomes the economic touchstone. Moreover, the successful integration of migrants, both men and women, into the labour market forms the basis for lasting social integration, serving to secure one's livelihood and participation in the life of the society."
