Jobcenters: Incomprehensible Rejection
Abstract
Since the German Supreme Court's objection to the mixed administration of employment agencies and municipalities in the 347 'Jobcenters' for recipients of Hartz IV unemployment benefit, politicians have been struggling over possible solutions. Most recently, the proposal of the federation-states commission of a further administration of the jointly organised Jobcenters in legally independent "Centers for Employment and Basic Income Support" was rejected by the Christian Democratic/Social Union's faction in the Bundestag. In the light of the limited constitutional options, the author takes this as incomprehensible in her comment.
