Arbeiten und Lernen im Wandel

Abstract

"By editing the life course data in ALWA we on the one hand intended to eliminate temporal and substantial inconsistencies in the educational and employment histories, which have been revealed by data analyses of the raw data. On the other hand, with that we wanted to produce a data base for analyzing the question, whether and in which cases - despite implementation of a data revision module in the interview - data editing is necessary at all. The edition of the ALWA-life history data is based on editing experience within the framework of the German Life History Studies. On this basis, we describe the editing procedure of the ALWA-life history data, and how can be ensured a high degree of standardization by editing data. Hence, we describe the editing tool 'Patch Tales', which is newly developed for this edition procedure, and the three editing steps in detail. Finally we present some results of the ALWA data editing procedure." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku) ((en))
