Specific local conditions as Bavaria's locational advantage
Abstract
"This paper analyses employment growth in the federal state of Bavaria at both the state and district level. Between 1993 and 2001, Bavaria achieved the highest growth rate in Germany. The analysis identifies local conditions as the main explanation for this. At the district level, however, employment growth shows considerable variation as do the underlying determinants of that growth. A divergent pattern is evident between rural, suburban and urban areas with a distinctive role for the metropolitan area of Munich." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku) ((en))
