Network DeZIM and project on female and family refugees
Project duration: 01.01.2018 to 10.02.2020
Abstract
Integration and migration research in Germany has been decentralized and, since humanitarian immigration in 2015, has increasingly been asked for advice by politicians, media and the civil society. The existing structure is not sufficient to meet the information requirements. There are research gaps in many fields, and there is also a lack of well-educated young academics in the field. Therefore, the existing research facilities and the cooperation among the institutes should be strengthened.
At the BIM, IAB, IKG, IMIS, InZentIM, MZES and WZB, a DeZIM contact and networking person will be installed for this purpose. The tasks of the network will be to provide an overview of ongoing, planned and other possible research projects and topics and to make them available for DeZIM. The networking persons have to provide an internal overview of research projects, topics and ideas, Therefore, a management system will have to be developed so that the existing knowledge is made transparent within the respective institution and for the institutes of the DeZIM community.
Flight migration and the integration of refugees will be a central topic in the field of migration and integration and the corresponding fields of political action in the coming years. In a research project in the framework of the DeZIM project, flight migration of women and families will be investigated. This includes issues such as making migration decisions in the family context, the selectivity of the flight migration by gender, the special risks during the flight for women and the family reunion. Secondly, the integration and participation of women and families in Germany will be investigated. These include issues such as participation of women in language courses and other integration measures, in education and training, the integration of women into the labour market and the participation of refugee children in the education system.
