Labour Market and Social Policy in the German Federal Elections 2025
Project duration: 17.03.2025 to 31.12.2025
Abstract
The aim of this IAB publication is to provide information on the extent to which voters' labour market and social policy attitudes correspond with the policy positions of the parties they voted for in the German Federal Election 2025. The focus is on the question of whether and to what extent individual preferences correspond to the parties' programmes. In addition, the report analyses which socio-economic factors - such as educational level, income, employment status or social background - influence this correlation. The analysis is based on quantitative data from the online survey Online-Panel for Labour Market Research (OPAL) and the Wahl-O-Mat for the German Federal Elections 2025 of the Federal Centre for Civic Education. The aim of the analysis is to gain insights into the accuracy of political representation and to uncover possible discrepancies between individual attitudes and voting decisions. The results contribute to the understanding of voter behaviour and the formation of political opinion in the context of labour market and social policy issues.
