IAB-BAMF-SOEP Survey of Refugees
Project duration: 17.12.2015 to
Abstract
Together with the Research Center of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF-FZ) and the German Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP), IAB has been conducting an annual longitudinal survey of refugees and their relatives since 2016. The IAB-BAMF-SOEP Refugee Survey covers people seeking protection regardless of their current residence status, i.e. asylum seekers, people with recognized or rejected protection status, and people who have been granted temporary protection. The survey collects information on socio-economic characteristics, education, migration motives and routes, past and present living conditions, as well as values and attitudes of refugees. The integration of the survey into the German Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP) allows for comparative analyses of people with and without a migration background. The data is also available as linked version, linking the data to Integrated Employment Biographies (IEB) of the IAB, which extends the analysis potential.
