Abstract

The aim of this project is to study the employment trajectories of apprentices from the German handicraft system. Specifically, we will analyse how long apprentices remain in their training establishment and their training occupation. Moreover, we will compare the characteristics of those apprentices remaining and those leaving their training firm and/or occupation. Finally, we will assess whether occupational mobility coincides with a transition out of a handicraft occupation. We intend to conduct the analysis for different cohorts of apprenticeship completers to anaylse whether the before-mentioned aspects have changed over time.
