Abstract

The project analyses in international comparison if low wage jobs serve as a brigde towards a durable integration of unemployed persons into the labour market. In this context, the two main issues are the extent and the determinants of 1. low wage persistence (low wage trap) and of 2. a "low-pay-no-pay" cycle. Large administrative datasets and techniques of event history analysis (duration analysis) are used for the three countries (Austria, Denmark, West Germany).
